Focus.

But is your business too reliant on one niche?

Traffic is subject to changes for a variety of reasons. Things like search engine positions & ppc ads are actionable & probably correctable - but changes of demand for the products in your industry require a different type of action.

Diversification.

For example, anyone marketing for Mortgage leads or any niche which is peripheral to housing has has already figured out that changes in the housing market will affect their business.

Anyone watching the first republican debate last night knew Ron Paul walked in as an underdog. Arguably, he & others were treated as such during the debate itself. However, many internet polls now put Ron Paul as the winner or in the top 3.

As any company grows & realizes some level of success (whether lasting or fleeting), the question arises - what do we do with the profit?

Conventional wisdom would have us investing in diversified stocks or (more likely) Real Estate. However, online marketers, as a group, can't accurately be labeled as conventional.

The above article describes a method used by some bad elements of society to install malware on vulnerable pcs as users click on adwords ads. Replies to the thread tend to point out the vulnerabilities of Internet Explorer Browser as the main culprit in the issue. In effect, the ads would point to a virus which would attempt to install on the users pc & then quickly redirect to the advertised site. Targeted keywords for the ads included well known institutions such as the BBB.
